How to defend the UMC against heretical teachings

Thanks for the insight, Laura, that much of current United Methodism is "doctrine-less." I believe that we have a doctrine of marriage and sexuality that teaches God's purpose for sex within a monogamous, heterosexual marriage. There are many attempting to defend that doctrine today, however imperfectly.

Hi Tom, Thanks for taking the time to comment. I think you and I are using the term "Doctrine" differently. By UM doctrine I mean a position that references the UM doctrinal standards (John Wesley's standard sermons, his Notes on the New Testament, the Articles of Religion, and the EUB Confession of Faith.) One of my goals for this blog is to increase awareness of these doctrinal standards.
