National Poetry Writing Month Seven

Prompt-- inspired by Mark 12:28-31

As Yourself

All the jangled edges will dissolve
softening like the bitter vine unbinding
everything worn and frayed rewoven
as we become more beige with each passing prayer.

All the tempered daydreams will focus
heightening like the lily bloom unfolding
everything singular bespoken
as we become more bland with each granted grace.

All the selfless gestures will increase
strengthening like the buried roots unearthing
everything us and them forgiven
becoming more boring with each Let It Be.
